真的好开心好开心喔!!!
Interviews are finally over! =DAnd I'm very happy tt I got into my first choice! Yay!
Interview 1 was @ my 3rd choice
10.30am - phone rang - 230pm - interview - 450pm - got accepted
Did my attachment there, familiar surroundin, familiar faces. Interview was a super-relaxed chit-chat, 1-to-1), where 80% of the time is the interviewer tellin me about the hospital. Hee! Not the typical kind of interview tt I'd expected.. =P I felt a bit bad when I told them I cant accept the offer tt day, felt even worse when I told them I accepted the offer from another hospital le. =( Mayb cos I know the person on the phone, so making it worse ba. *sorry*
Interview 2 was @ my 2nd choice
9am - interview - 12nn - got accepted
It is not exactly a second choice. Was tough makin a decision btw my 1st n 2nd choice. Hmm.. Reached the place early but only had a few mins b4 I was called into the room. It's 2-to-1 this time round. Felt a little nervous.
A: Well, you can start by tellin us about urself.
Me: Like all other applicants, I'm gg to graduate from N U S Pharm in May 2008. Hmm.. I shall begin by tellin u why I chose this course. Blah blah blah..
*
*
(And the interview session continues)
*
*
B: Choose an organ or medical condition that you are more familiar with.
A: Yes, choose one that you are familiar with, cos we are goin to ask you a few questions about it. Like Renal failure or Diabetes or others. *smile*
Me: Hmm.. So I choose one that I THINK i am familiar with. Diabetes. *smile NERVOUSLY*
A: Tell us about diabetes.
Me: (Stunned, thinkin 'wat a question, omg, where to begin') Well, it is a condition where the bld glucose are elevated. There are two types. Type 1 (Insulin dependent) and Type 2 (Non-insulin dependent).
A: Ok, so.. what if the glucose levels are uncontrolled?
B: (I bet she saw my blur expression, tt's y she said this.) As in, what are the complications of diabetes?
Me: (suddenly enlightened lol) Well, complications of DM.. It can affect the heart, kidney, eyes and nerves.
A: So how can we monitor for all these?
Me: (I spoke about the check-ups at the Diabetes Clinic - eyes, peripheral sensation, injury etc)
*
*
B: What are the goals of treatment? As in BP, LDL, etc.
Me: (Gave all the correct answer except for HbA1c.. =P) ... HbA1c <>
A: Oh.. Where did you get that value from? Isit from (a chim website tt I nv hear b4)?
Me: No.. If I nv rmb the value wrongly, I got it from my lect notes, which I believe got the values from some Evidence-based sources. (Omg, I feel like I'm smokin answer..)
[Best thing is A and B look convinced.. Yay..]
*
*
A: Okie, now we have this patient here, who is on metformin and glipizide. How are you gg to monitor or check for?
Me: Hmm.. First thing I will look at is his creatinine value and calculate his CrCL. This is because metformin is not to be used in patient with CrCL <>
B: (nv let me continue answerin.. ) So, what if the patient has CrCL = 30?
Me: (standard answer - intervention)
B: What if the doctor insist on givin the patient the medication cos he has been on them for many years and they control his bld glucose quite well.
Me: Hmm.. I will take the patient past medical records and calculate his past CrCL and plot on a graph. If the CrCL has a decreasing trend, it means that his kidney function are really deteriorating and I will convey this to the doctor and show him the graph if necessary. (Haha, dun laugh, I really said that! =P) If his CrCL has all along been 30 and the doctor refuse to change the drugs, then prob continue givin the patient the medicine but monitor more closely for signs of lactic acidosis.
A: So what are the signs of lactic acidosis?
Me: (Very honestly) I cant recall. Sorry.
*
*
(Talk about further studies etc)
*
*
B:Do you have any questions to ask us?
Me: No. =)
B: Do you have any questions to ask her?
A: Haha. We asked her ALOT of questions already.
[Everyone laughed.]
*
*
(Was asked to wait outside for a few mins)
*
*
A: Well.. You fit all our criteria.. But you mentioned just now tt you still wan to go (my first choice) for interview. So even is we accept you now, you cant decide. So I tink it's only fair if we give each other 2 hours to decide?
B: Yes. So we'll call you at about 12noon.
Me: Ok, thanks alot. Thanks and bye! =D
Interview 3 was @ my first choice
[I called them and told them my situation and asked if they could fit me in for an interview asap as I haf to make a decision in 2 hours time]
Shall not talk bout the interview itself.. All I can say is that it is a super warm and friendly environment.. The interviewer is super friendly, 'fatherly' and encouraging ("excellent.. hmm.. gd gd.. excellent.."). I tink I will enjoy my 9 months training there and hopefully continue to work there after my registration..
After the interview, he immediately offered me the position.. I was super happy!!! "Ya, so now I'm offering you the position and I welcome you to.. (i didnt hear the rest, was in my happy lala land le)" =P
[At least I still rmb to call n inform choice 2 n 3 about it]
Yay!! Happy that most of us got into where we want to..
Went for lunch with pharm pple, spinelli and movie with kahying n huiyie. Movie is quite nice i think (or mayb cos 3 of us are in super-good mood hor?!) I tink the 'bimbo' in the movie made us laugh the most. Haha!
Happy happy happy...
Lookin forward to graduation now... Cant wait to start workin in an environment with children, with 'Ah Wang Kopi' and nice nice colleagues!! (Meyling, Jenx n Shiwei included! =D)
